The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has thwarted an attempt to smuggle tramadol to the United Kingdom after operatives intercepted a shipment of the opioid concealed inside black soap containers in Lagos.<\/p>\n

The seizure was disclosed on Sunday by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, in a narco-trend update shared on his official X account.<\/p>\n

According to Babafemi, the illicit consignment was uncovered during a routine interdiction operation, preventing the drugs from being exported to the UK.<\/p>\n

\nThe NDLEA spokesman said the discovery highlights the increasingly sophisticated methods employed by drug traffickers to evade security checks.<\/p>\n

He also renewed the agency’s warning to Nigerians against accepting parcels or luggage from others without verifying their contents.<\/p>\n

“It’s difficult not to continue to warn people that they should avoid accepting any parcel or luggage from anyone,” Babafemi said.<\/p>\n

Explaining the latest seizure, he added: “Here are pills of tramadol buried in black soap containers to get them to the UK, but the concealment was discovered by NDLEA officers in Lagos.”<\/p>\n
