Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced the arrest of four more suspects allegedly involved in the abduction of seven students of the state-owned ICT Polytechnic, Saapade.<\/p>\n
Abiodun disclosed this on Friday while commissioning a 3.3-kilometre road in Mowe, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n
The governor said the latest arrests followed the successful rescue of the seven students by security agencies on Thursday.<\/p>\n
He noted that two members of the suspected kidnapping gang had earlier been arrested during the operation, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to six.<\/p>\n
According to him, other members of the gang who are still at large will also be apprehended.<\/p>\n
Abiodun attributed the successful rescue operation to the coordinated efforts of the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Security Network Agency, local hunters and vigilantes.<\/p>\n
He also commended President Bola Tinubu, the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the DSS for their support.<\/p>\n
The governor assured residents and investors that his administration would continue to strengthen security across the state, warning criminals against operating in Ogun.<\/p>\n
\u201cOgun State will not allow crime or criminality. Those who come here to test our resolve will be tracked down, arrested and made to face the full weight of the law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Abiodun also appreciated the National Association of Nigerian Students, the National Association of Ogun State Students and other student bodies for their patience and support during the period of the students\u2019 captivity.<\/p>\n
