{"id":3385,"date":"2026-08-22T23:34:49","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T23:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nigerianreporters.com\/?p=3385"},"modified":"2026-08-22T23:34:49","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T23:34:49","slug":"abiodun-receives-pdp-adc-defectors-urges-support-for-apc-ahead-of-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nigerianreporters.com\/NG\/2026\/08\/22\/abiodun-receives-pdp-adc-defectors-urges-support-for-apc-ahead-of-2027\/","title":{"rendered":"Abiodun Receives PDP, ADC Defectors, Urges Support for APC Ahead of 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3386\" src=\"https:\/\/nigerianreporters.com\/NG\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FB_IMG_1787440830100-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/h3>\n<p>Ogun State Governor and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Friday received hundreds of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) into the ruling party, urging them to mobilise support ahead of the 2027 general elections.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3387\" src=\"https:\/\/nigerianreporters.com\/NG\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FB_IMG_1787440855335-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The defectors, including party leaders from the nine local government areas of Ogun East Senatorial District, were formally welcomed at a ceremony held at the Ojude-Oba Carnival Ground in Ijebu-Ode.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing party members and supporters, Abiodun described the decision of the former opposition members to join the APC as a reflection of growing confidence in his administration and assured them of equal treatment and full integration into the party.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3388\" src=\"https:\/\/nigerianreporters.com\/NG\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/FB_IMG_1787440839314-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He called on both new and existing members to strengthen grassroots mobilisation efforts in preparation for future elections.<\/p>\n<p>The governor highlighted key projects undertaken by his administration since 2019, particularly in the area of infrastructure, noting that more than 100 roads had been constructed across Ogun East Senatorial District.<\/p>\n<p>Abiodun also listed ongoing and proposed projects, including the Gateway International Airport, the Olokola Deep Sea Port, the Olokola-Kajola Gas Industrial Free Zone and road rehabilitation projects across the district.<\/p>\n<p>He announced that the reconstruction of the Ago-Iwoye\u2013Ibadan Road would be flagged off on Monday in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Works.<\/p>\n<p>The governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting infrastructure development in Ogun State and expressed confidence in continued public support for the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of the defectors, former PDP and ADC members attributed their decision to join the APC to the developmental projects of the Abiodun administration and pledged loyalty to the ruling party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ogun State Governor and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Friday received hundreds of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) into the ruling party, urging them to mobilise support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
