The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has detained four police officers accused of allegedly extorting N53,000 from the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr Musa Aliyu (SAN), during an unauthorised stop and search operation in Abuja.

The officers were reportedly involved in an illegal checkpoint operation around the Banex area of Wuse, where they allegedly demanded and collected money from the ICPC chairman.

Confirming the development on Monday, FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, condemned the action, describing the officers as individuals whose conduct does not represent the values of the Nigeria Police Force.

The commissioner stated that the officers had been taken into custody while investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
