Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a Sudanese man suspected of terrorism and a Ghanaian woman believed to be an illegal immigrant during a security operation in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The Nigerian Army identified the suspects as 32-year-old Musa Fashir, a Sudanese national alleged to be a foreign terrorist fighter and collaborator, and 36 year old Mary Florence, a Ghanaian national whose presence in the area is under investigation.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammed Goni, said the suspects were apprehended by troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion during an intelligence led operation in the Lassa, Dille General Area on July 19.
According to the Army, preliminary intelligence indicates that Fashir may have links to terrorist elements operating in the North-East, while authorities are verifying Florence’s immigration status and the circumstances surrounding her presence in the area.
Both suspects remain in military custody and are undergoing profiling and interrogation as investigations continue. The Army said the operation underscores its commitment to disrupting terrorist networks and strengthening security across the North-East.
