The Rivers State Government has denied reports of a fresh dispute between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly over the 2026 Appropriation Bill.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, dismissed the reports as misleading, insisting that there was no rift between the executive and legislative arms of government.

Nzeshi said Fubara was working closely with the lawmakers in the interest of Rivers State, adding that the 2026 budget proposal was currently undergoing the normal legislative process after being presented to the Assembly by the governor.

He expressed confidence that the lawmakers would conclude their deliberations and pass the Appropriation Bill.

The governor’s aide also urged individuals and organisations promoting what he described as negative narratives to stop, stressing that Rivers State needed peace and stability to sustain its development.

Nzeshi said  that the Fubara administration remained committed to strengthening cooperation between the executive and legislature for the continued progress of the state.
