Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, commission Youth Development Centre in Nsit Atai Local Government Area, with stakeholders describing the facility as a major boost to youth empowerment, innovation and human capital development in the state.
Representing the governor at the commissioning, APC state Chairman, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo describe the centre as an industrial hub designed to equip young people with relevant skills and opportunities.
He urged residents, especially youths, to protect the facility and ensure it serves its intended purpose.
Ntukekpo also commended Nsit Atai Chairman Anthony Nyong, House of Representatives member Rt. Hon. Mark Esset, and Hon. Aniefiok Attah for their contributions to the development of the area.
He further called for issue based political campaigns, urging political actors to present their scorecards rather than engage in name calling.
In his welcome address, Nsit Atai Local Government Chairman, Anthony Nyong, expressed appreciation to Governor Umo Eno for supporting the vision behind the project.
He thanked his wife for her support and said the centre would help positively engage young people, expressing confidence that it would contribute to reducing crime in the area.
Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Ekerete Ekanem, said the project reflects the governor’s commitment to building the youth of Akwa Ibom.
He noted that similar initiatives are being replicated across the state’s 31 local government areas and praised the contractor, Hon. Emmanuel Okon, for delivering what he described as an Innovation Development Centre.
Speaking at the event, Emmanuel Okon thanked Governor Umo Eno for the opportunity to execute the project and pledged to continue delivering quality projects within stipulated timelines.
Former Commissioner Dr. Lawrence Udosen commended the governor’s commitment to project implementation in Nsit Atai, citing the recently commissioned model primary school, ongoing road projects, and the inclusion of the local government in the state’s development agenda.
House of Representatives member Rt. Hon. Mark Esset lauded the governor’s investments in human capital development across all wards in Nsit Atai, particularly the Compassionate Homes initiative.
Mark said the projects have positively impacted residents and expressed confidence in continued public support for the administration.
Also speaking, Hon. Aniefiok Attah praised Governor Umo Eno’s performance, urging residents to assess the administration’s developmental achievements before forming opinions.
Nsit Atai Paramount Ruler , HRM Peter Okon, thanked the governor for bringing development to the area through infrastructure projects, including the Akpene Ukim-Okobo Road that traverses Nsit Atai.
The monarch also expressed optimism that the Youth Development Centre would help keep young people engaged and discourage criminal activities.
The commissioning attracted government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders and community stakeholders, who described the project as another milestone in the state’s drive to empower youths and accelerate grassroots development.
