The vandalism of comedian Sabinus vehicle during his recent “Back to School Tour” at the University of Uyo has sparked concerns about the potential impact on Akwa Ibom State’s image and its ability to attract future events.
Nigerian Reporters gathered that , individuals allegedly damaged the comedian’s vehicle despite the benevolence of Sabinus, who distributed millions of naira in giveaways to students during the event.
Circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear, including whether there were any prior arrangements between Sabinus’ team, the event organisers and the University’s Students’ Union Government.
The incident has raised fears that it could discourage entertainers and corporate brands from bringing future projects to the state.
University of Uyo was selected as one of the limited campuses for Sabinus’ nationwide “Back to School Tour” and was also included among the institutions scheduled to host the Soundcity BIGI Tour, suggesting that Uyo has become an attractive destination for major entertainment brands.
Akwa Ibomites condemned the alleged vandalism, describing it as an act capable of damaging the state’s reputation for hospitality and peaceful coexistence.
