Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has been urged by his younger brother, Isaac Fayose, to decline his recent appointment as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), describing the position as one that falls below his political stature.
Isaac made the remarks in a video shared on his Instagram page on Monday, shortly after President Bola Tinubu announced the appointment of Ayo Fayose alongside 25 others into the boards of 10 federal agencies and commissions.
According to Isaac, the former governor deserved a higher national assignment such as a ministerial or ambassadorial position, rather than chairing a federal agency.
He also questioned the timing of the appointment, alleging it came shortly after former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi visited his residence over the weekend.
Isaac recalled that his brother had previously stated he would not seek or accept government appointments after leaving office, choosing instead to focus on his private business.
Describing the appointment as a “Greek gift,” he urged the former governor to reject the offer or hand the position over to his son, insisting that Ayo Fayose remained “too big” for the role.
Despite congratulating his brother, Isaac maintained that the appointment did not reflect the former governor’s political influence and standing.
President Tinubu announced Ayo Fayose’s appointment as Chairman of the REA Board in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, as part of appointments into the leadership of several federal agencies and commissions.
