The All Progressives Congress (APC) has come under fresh scrutiny over its nomination process following allegations of candidate substitution, protests in Ondo State, and uncertainty surrounding the party’s list of candidates ahead of the 2027 general election.
The controversy coincides with claims by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Obidient Movement, who alleged that opposition parties are being deliberately weakened through political, legal, and institutional actions orchestrated by unnamed actors within the ruling establishment.
NIGERIAN REPORTERS gathered that the APC National Secretariat in Abuja remained largely inactive as concerns grew over the alleged replacement of some candidates who emerged from the party’s recent primaries.
Sources within the party claimed nomination forms were being issued directly to recognised candidates instead of releasing an official list, a move reportedly intended to reduce tension among aggrieved aspirants.
Reacting to the reports, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka denied that the party had released any official list of successful candidates.
He described the lists circulating on social media and other platforms as false and unauthorised, urging party members and the public to rely only on official communications.
Despite the uncertainty, APC officials in Kano, Gombe, Lagos, Oyo, Rivers, Katsina, and Zamfara states confirmed that successful candidates had started receiving Form EC9, the nomination document required by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the submission of candidates for the 2027 elections.
