Bashir Ahmad Breaks Silence on Viral Video Allegedly Showing Seyi Tinubu Snubbing His Handshake

Former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has explained the circumstances surrounding a viral video that sparked reactions online after Seyi Tinubu was alleged to have snubbed his handshake.

The video, which circulated widely on social media, generated mixed reactions, with several users questioning why Seyi, the son of President Bola Tinubu, appeared to ignore Ahmad’s attempt to exchange greetings with him.

However, Ahmad has urged the public not to draw conclusions from the footage without understanding the context of the encounter.

In a statement addressing the controversy, Ahmad explained that he and Seyi Tinubu attended the meeting together, clarifying that their purpose was not to meet Seyi but to accompany him to meet a women’s group.

According to Ahmad, the individuals Seyi was seen greeting and shaking hands with in the viral clip were members of the women’s group they had accompanied him to meet.

“We attended the meeting together with him. We were not there to meet Seyi Tinubu, we accompanied him to meet the women’s group, those he was seen greeting and shaking hands with in the video,” Ahmad wrote.

His explanation appears to offer additional context to the footage, which had fuelled speculation about a possible snub and prompted widespread commentary on social media.

Ahmad’s remarks also suggest that the viral clip may not have captured the full circumstances of the encounter, cautioning against interpreting the incident solely from the brief footage circulating online.

The controversy has since drawn attention to how short video clips can generate public debate when shared without the full context of the events they depict.

Although the video prompted reactions from social media users, Ahmad’s clarification provides his account of what happened at the meeting, disputing the assumptions that have surrounded the footage.
