Former Rivers State Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory , Nyesom Wike, has reportedly pledged to recommend Julius Adamu, a former Peoples Democratic Party chairmanship candidate in Bwari Area Council, for appointment as chairman of the FCT Universal Basic Education Board.

According to a report circulating on social media, Wike made the pledge at a Rainbow Coalition meeting on October 22, where he praised Adamu for prioritising political unity over personal ambition.

Adamu, a Gbagyi indigene, reportedly stepped down during the last election following Wikeโ€™s appeal to support Joshua Ishaku, the All Progressives Congress candidate, and President Bola Tinubu.

Wike was said to have announced that he would immediately recommend Adamu to Tinubu for the education board position.

This announcement has generated mixed reactions, with supporters commending Wike for recognising political loyalty and grassroots commitment, while critics have questioned whether political allegiance should be a determining factor in appointments to an education institution.
