President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore in eight newly appointed federal commissioners for the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the National Population Commission (NPC) ahead of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Council Chambers before the commencement of the weekly FEC meeting presided over by the President.

The newly inaugurated RMAFC commissioners are Hajiya Amina Ibrahim Gamawa of Bauchi State and Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad of Kaduna State.

Gamawa, a lawyer and journalist, has previously served at the National Assembly, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). She also played a role in the establishment of Nigeria’s National Blood Transfusion Service.

Muhammad is a legal practitioner with extensive experience in public administration. He formerly served as Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and later as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The six commissioners sworn in for the National Population Commission are Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi, Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda, Suleiman Umar, Dr. Isiaka Alada Yahaya, and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo.

Magarya is a former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, while Alabi is an information systems and supply chain management professional who most recently served as Executive Commissioner for Corporate Services at the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

Prof. Radda is a Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Bayero University, Kano, and a former member of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption.

Umar retired from the Nigeria Immigration Service as Deputy Comptroller General, where he supervised intelligence, investigation, and enforcement operations.

Yahaya is a career officer of the National Population Commission who rose to the position of Director of Public Affairs.
Dattijo, a former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, was reappointed for a second term as Federal Commissioner after previously serving in several ministerial roles in the state.

The appointments are expected to reinforce the operations of the RMAFC and NPC, two key federal institutions responsible for revenue allocation and population management in Nigeria.
