A 25-year-old medical doctor, Wisdom Oghenetega, has died after he was allegedly denied a three-week leave request to focus on his health while serving under the National Youth Service Corps.

According to reports, Oghenetega spent seven years in medical school, completed his one-year housemanship , and was undergoing his mandatory NYSC service when he fell ill.

Sources said he requested a three-week leave to receive medical care and recover, but the request was allegedly not approved.

 

He later passed away, sparking widespread reactions and renewed concerns over the welfare of young doctors and corps members.


The circumstances surrounding his death and the alleged denial of his leave request have continued to generate public attention, with many calling for a thorough investigation and improved support for healthcare workers.
