The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that it issued seven official Federal Government number plates to vehicles linked to the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.
The FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, disclosed this on Thursday while appearing before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the establishment and operations of the council.
Mohammed said the agency followed its standard procedures before approving the request. According to him, the application was supported by letters from the Presidential Economic Advisory Council and the council’s alleged Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi.
He added that the FRSC verified the PFIPC’s website and its listed office address at the Federal Secretariat before issuing the number plates.
The development followed testimony from businessman Gbenga Collins, who told the committee that PFIPC officials received him at the Abuja airport in vehicles bearing Federal Government number plates.
Collins also alleged that he paid ₦400 million to Adeyemi to facilitate the award of a contract for the renovation and furnishing of the Director-General’s official residence.
The House committee is investigating allegations surrounding the creation and operations of the PFIPC, including claims that the council operated without lawful authority despite being allocated about ₦1.3 billion in the 2026 Appropriation Act.
Separately, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has submitted an interim report to President Bola Tinubu, recommending Adeyemi’s prosecution.
ICPC reportedly found during its preliminary investigation that documents allegedly used to establish the council, including its purported appointment letter and gazette, were forged.
