A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to accuse her ex-husband of demanding that she remove a post about their marriage and return his alleged bride price, while also making fresh allegations about the circumstances surrounding their separation.
According to the woman, a dispatch rider contacted her to deliver documents allegedly sent by her ex-husband.
She said she refused to provide her home address and asked that the documents be photographed and sent to her instead.
She later received images of the documents and claimed they contained a demand for the removal of a bride price related post, alleging that her ex-husband insisted he had not received the return of the bride price.
In a lengthy social media post, she said:
“A dispatch rider called me and said my ex-husband gave him some documents to bring to my house. He was just demanding that he must deliver it in my house, my compound. I refused and insisted that if they cannot snap it and send it to me, let them leave it. I’m not giving them any address.”
She further alleged that her ex-husband was disputing the date of their traditional marriage and claimed that the bride price was paid on February 1, 2020, rather than 2019.
She explained that a receipt she previously shared was allegedly evidence that she and her family had attempted to return the bride price, but that her ex-husband refused to accept it.
The woman also made serious allegations about their marriage, claiming that her ex-husband stopped eating food prepared by her for more than two years and withdrew from physical intimacy during her pregnancy.
“For our six years, I never cheated and you have never suspected I cheated. You just started assuming I cheated because of my marriage four months later after I left your house.”
She added:
“You stopped eating my food for two years plus till I left. You stopped touching me after two months of my last baby pregnancy. You stopped touching me till I gave birth. I almost died giving birth because of lack of sex. I almost used CS to deliver because of closed service.”
According to her, she repeatedly pleaded with him for intimacy but alleged that he rejected her and sometimes pushed her away from his room after they began sleeping separately.
She also addressed the public nature of the dispute, saying she had not initially shared details of the marriage but claimed her ex-husband began engaging with her social media content, leading some of her followers to become aware of their situation.
The woman said her priority is now her children, family and business, particularly as her children prepare to return to school.
She concluded by challenging her ex-husband to present his case publicly, saying:
“I can obviously see you want fight. Bring it onnn. Omoh ehh, it’s too much and long. Anywhere you want us to go, even my witnesses will testify. To be continued.”
