Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has alleged that coordinated political and legal efforts are being made to frustrate the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by his spokesman, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said he had received what he described as credible information indicating that moves were underway to prevent the ADC from participating effectively in the electoral process.

He called on Nigerians, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the judiciary, security agencies, civil society organisations, and the international community to remain vigilant and safeguard Nigeria’s democracy.

Similarly, the Obidient Movement accused the Federal Government and the judiciary of attempting to weaken opposition parties through legal and institutional means.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, the movement’s National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, expressed concern over recent court decisions affecting opposition political parties, arguing that the developments raised questions about the neutrality of democratic institutions.

He also called for the protection of judicial independence and a level playing field for all political parties ahead of the 2027 elections.
