Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has criticised the chances of a possible Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 election, saying the duo lack the political records and legacies required to win.
Ganduje stated this while addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, where he described the proposed alliance as unlikely to succeed, especially in Kano State.
The former Kano State governor said Obi, who previously governed Anambra State, had not built enough governance achievements to convince Nigerians of his capacity to lead the country.
He questioned Obi’s performance while in office, asking what major legacy the former governor left behind that would position him for the presidency.
Ganduje also faulted Kwankwaso’s political record, noting that the former Kano governor was unable to secure a second consecutive term in office, unlike some of his predecessors.
He mentioned former Kano governors Ibrahim Shekarau and himself as leaders who served two straight terms, arguing that Kwankwaso’s record did not match theirs.
According to Ganduje, the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso ticket would struggle to gain acceptance among voters, insisting that it would not make significant impact in the 2027 presidential election.
