Jude Okoye has filed a lawsuit against his younger brother, Peter Okoye, seeking a court order to restrain him from performing songs associated with the defunct music duo, P-Square.
According to reports, Jude claims he discovered the P-Square brand and is its sole owner.
He also alleges that Peter was employed only as a dancer and therefore has no legal right to perform the group’s songs independently. Paul Okoye, Peter’s twin brother and former P-Square member, is reportedly backing the legal action.
The development has sparked fresh debate among fans, particularly over the history of the group’s formation. Available records show that Peter and Paul Okoye formed P-Square in 1997 while attending secondary school in Jos, Plateau State. The duo released their debut album, Last Nite, in 2003 under Timbuk2 Music, a record label owned by Howie T.
Jude Okoye later joined the group as its manager in 2005, overseeing the duo’s business affairs during the peak of their music career.
The lawsuit is expected to reignite the long running dispute within the Okoye family as fans await further legal proceedings and official responses from the parties involved.
