The Cross River State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Prince Eka William, has died while receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Abuja.
William kicked the bucket on Saturday, September 12, 2026, and the announcement was made by his brother, Nkang William, who described it as sudden and heartbreaking.
In an emotional tribute, Nkang said he was struggling to accept that his brother, who had recently been with the family, had suddenly become a memory, describing him as more than a sibling but a companion whose loss had left an irreplaceable void.
The demise of Prince William has caused so much shock within the Cross River political class and beyond. One of such is by the APC candidate for Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency, Hon. John Gaul who described the incident as shocking

Last Weekend he played host to me and Hon Oden Ewa in his home town ikom.
Yesterday, we flew together from Calabar to Abuja and shared the same seat ,he sat to the window and I sat by the aisle.
We arrived safely and departed to our various destinations.
Few hours later Orok Otu Duke who was on the same flight with us called me to say that Prince Eka Williams just died.

The former APC state chairman and currently Deputy Governor candidate of PDP, Alphonsus Eba has reflected on his cordial relationship with Prince William during their tenure as he served in the capacity of APC deputy state chairman in Cross River State.
The Deputy Governor candidate wrote ;
“Good bye is the saddest word to say .
My dearest beloved former deputy chairman of party and hitherto, commissioner for Power, Prince Eka Williams, this is just too heavy for me to carry.
As I reflect on our moments as colleagues in APC State Executive Committee particularly, our cordial working relationship and the successes we recorded collectively, I know that in your death, we have lost a friend, a brother and colleague who gave his all in service to APC and our dear State.
I share in the pains that your beloved wife, beautiful daughters, brothers, sisters, friends and other close allies are experiencing. May God grant them the fortitude to bear this pain and comfort them.
