American R&B star Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to affray in connection with a 2023 nightclub altercation in London, bringing an end to the possibility of a trial on more serious criminal charges.
Brown entered the guilty plea on Friday before Southwark Crown Court.
Following the plea, prosecutors confirmed that charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon involving a bottle would be formally withdrawn.
The incident occurred on February 19, 2023, at Tape, an exclusive private members’ club in London’s Hanover Square. Prosecutors alleged that a man was struck with a bottle before being chased and assaulted during the confrontation.
The singer, who was arrested in Manchester in May 2025 after arriving in the UK by private jet, was later released on £5 million bail. He is expected to be sentenced on October 26, 2026.
Despite the legal proceedings, Brown was permitted by the court to continue his scheduled UK and European tour, which began in June.
Brown remains one of the world’s most successful R&B artists, although his career has been marked by several legal controversies.
